Welcome to Atlantis-Bakhu
This website has been established to offer for your review the comprehensive investigative findings of a major geomythology project of the nonprofit organization Wells Research Laboratory, Inc. (WRL) – - a history and science think tank. The project is entitled, “A Focus on the Geologic Sciences Related to Atlantis-Bakhu: Can a paradigm shift solve the mystery?”. These findings have been presented at the recent –Atlantis 2008– 2nd International Conference on The Atlantis Hypothesis: Search for a Lost Land, which was held in Athens, Greece, on November 10th and 11th at the National Hellenic Research Foundation. For more information about the conference, its principals and its inclusive parameters, please visit their website by following the link. http://atlantis2008.conferences.gr/. The abstract for this research was submitted to and accepted by the scientific committee of the Atlantis 2008 conference link above.
As most people know, Plato wrote of an ancient Atlantean civilization ruled by the ten offspring of Greek sea god Poseidon which vanished at the end of the Pleistocene ice ages, becoming a lost land more than 11,500 years ago. Since no reasonable evidence has been brought forth to date confirming the lost Island of Atlantis ever existed, the majority of scientists, academics, their colleagues, and many other intellectual counterparts, dismiss the story as merely an allegorical teaching method utilized by Plato in the education of his students. However, a few undaunted researchers continue to search the Earth’s sea-floors for verifiable vestiges of what may have been, in relative terms, the most technologically advanced and sophisticated tribe of humans alive at that time. These researchers are inspired as they recall Heinrich Schliemann’s quest and ultimate triumph in identifying ruins consistent with Homer’s Troy, showing the possibility of its actual existence — an excavation project that is still in progress today over one hundred years later. Similarly inspired, WRL has been motivated to investigate Plato’s Critias and Timaeus dialogues in which the myth, the legend, or the history of Atlantis unfolds.
In an effort to solve Plato’s seemingly paradoxical puzzle, we at WRL decided to approach the problem using scientific principles, methodologies, and generally accepted scientific facts and theories. Many people claim to have solved the Atlantis mystery, but they drastically alter Plato’s words in an attempt to make their site conform to only a few points, and even then, produce no substantive evidence. We reasoned that if Plato was recounting history, then everything he said had to be an accurate account of what was reported, so his dimensions, descriptions and parameters could not be changed to make a specific location fit the criteria. Rather, the defined requirements had to be utilized as a detailed guide to find the site. We were convinced that if the requirements could not be met in full then it would mean that Atlantis did not exist.
The use of this technique has resulted in the fascinating and compelling argument that ATLANTIS DID NOT SINK , it only appeared to have sunk, and was actually uplifited instead, in a tectonic process similar to accelerated or rapid epeirogenesis. This new understanding has led to what appears to be the verifiable discovery of the lost circular seaport of Atlantis, even before full excavation of the identified site begins. The number of exact matches to Plato’s descriptions, as you will see in the following pages, is unprecedented and the statistical probability that this location could be the actual home of the lost “civilization” is staggering.
